The gentle TREATMENT with GREENLIGHT – LASER for the reduction of the prostate gland

An effective therapy for the reduction of the prostate gland

With the Greenlight Laser, BPH (benign enlargement of the prostate) can be treated in a minimally invasive and gentle way. Without incontinence and impotence.

With age, the prostate gland enlarges. The consequences are reduced urine stream, frequent urge to urinate even at night, residual urine in the bladder (which can cause infections and inflammations) and “night dribbling”.

This benign enlargement of the prostate (BPH) has previously been treated with medication, with side effects that can include loss of libido and depression, or with TUR-P, a surgical procedure that can cause severe blood loss.

During treatment with the Greenlight laser, the excess tissue is vaporized and removed without any blood escaping. Precise control of the laser leaves the delicate structures surrounding the treatment area unharmed. Compared to the previous “gold standard” for reducing the size of the prostate, TUR-P, treatment with the Greenlight laser is virtually bloodless.

Immediately after the treatment, the urine drainage is free again, the bladder can be emptied unhindered. The stay in the clinic is one to two days. Impotence and incontinence are not expected.

Treatment with the Greenlight Laser is performed at the Vitus Privat Klinik by one of Germany’s most experienced urologists with this method. Prior to treatment, a multiparametric MRI scan of the prostate is performed for precise treatment planning and to rule out the possibility that the urinary flow problems are caused by carcinoma.
